True Attitude of repentance

This week was pretty nice. Also happy post Memorial Day.
We saw a buncha of good things happen this week.
We did tons of service for the members too.
We folded laundry, organizing recipe books, moving people, doing
dishes, heart attacking (posting cute hearts on someone's door so they feel
loved), and redoing a whole kitchen. And I also failed to mention that the week
previous me made baklava with the relief society for an activity, and these
Muslim ladies taught us how. It was pretty sweet.
We also met some pretty cool people and had some nice
lessons.
We have been teaching the youth a TON. They're basically all of
our progressing investigators at the moment. But it's so fun! Because we can
just be ourselves with them and be real with them! We taught these 3 teenage
boys about the Book of Mormon and it was awesome, I love seeing these tough
cool kids get all soften because of the spirit.
Sometimes however, teaching youth ends up like this:
We had 2 separate return appointments each with other male
youths and they both bailed on us! And only later would we find out ghat
they were both together at Worlds of Fun! The amusement park here in KC. cmon
man.
Hahaha they felt way bad. But it's cool.
Another fun thing was this member family whom we LOVE wanted to
have a missionary minded FHE. So their idea was to take us to this community
gathering at this grand opening for a new snow cone shack! There were TONS of
people there and they were introducing us to all their friends and so the
people could see we were just these normal people ya know? It was super sweet.

Saturday we had some exchanges again and I was with Sister
Farnsworth! We served at the VC together when she was first out in the mission
:) and she is a stud of a missionary!!! We saw tons of miracles. Including
meeting some solid potentials who want us to come back (that like never happens
here in Doniphan). Like literally we talked with this South African man for
like 40 minutes and ended up giving him a BOM plan of salvation and Restoration
Pamphlets (he had asked for some reading materials before we could even mention
them) He had so many awesome questions and comments and was so excited to read
everything! So that was pretty cool.
Sunday was sweet! One of the youth brought his friend to
church!!! Woohoo!
But in the evening we went to visit some less actives and part
member families(PMF). The ward missionaries had talked to us about them and so
we stopped by. First we met the member of the PMF and he was SO nice. We caught
him at a bad time but he was very eager to have us come back!
The jail has also been SOOO busy. Literally just yesterday I
took through 45 people just myself. Ha ha. It's so cool though! I feel like
king Benjamin preaching out to this crowd.
Anyways this week I learned a few things I would like to
share:
First off, Brother Ames from Liberty 1st came to district
meeting and gave a training that threw down about obedience. It was
awesome.
First off he shared how the commandments are really just Gods
Secrets to Happiness.
Then he share how there are three levels of obedience:
⭐️Telestial:
you're obedient because you want to avoid consequences and motivated out of
fear
This last attitude, the celestial attitude of obedience... THAT
is what saves you.
And I ask of you... which level are you living now so you can
then achieve it in the hereafter? :)
The other thing that hit me really hard this past week was from
an experience someone shared in our gospel principles class on Sunday.
The lesson was on repentance and she shared how lately as she
ends the day and comes to Heavenly Father in prayer... and then as she prays
and accounts to the lord at night she tries to repent and starts laying out all
these things that she couldve done better during the day... and by the end of
this she is so overwhelmed by her inadequacies that she almost dreads this time
in her day. She knows that repentance is real and it works, but that doesn't
keep her from feeling like she is as small as an ant.
Then she shares the epiphany she had.
We are to feel godly sorrow for our sins right? And that
motivates us to repent?
So this godly sorrow is actually not sorrow For god, but it is
sorrow LIKE god. The sorrow that He would have.
Our father in Heaven doesn't ever want us to feel terrible about
ourselves. He doesn't want us to get discouraged because we suck.
After you've payed out all your faults ... you definitely may
feel like you suck. I know I do sometimes, but that is not godly sorrow. God
does not want that.
God isn't the one calling out to His children with a bullhorn
saying "Repent you're going to hell!!"
Instead His call is of love. Because God is love. His call is
"Hey. Come home. We miss you. We need you here."
We need never feel that the faults we have or the mistakes we
make define us. We are these divine beings that are LITERALLY sons and
daughters of God!!
WE ourselves are not inherently bad. God knows we will make
mistakes, He knows our days won't be perfect. The day will go how it does but
that doesn't mean WE are bad.
We can recognize our human nature while remembering our divine
worth and the blessings of the atonement and move forward.
Let repentance be a happy moment.
Because repentance is God giving us these tools to help us get
back to Him.
To become the person that God knows we can be.
This changed my whole perspective on life, and hopefully hay can
shed some light on yours!!!
I love this work, and I love the gospel.
Last night as we were driving home, there was a beautiful
sunset, and I just was so appreciative to be a missionary. Because of the
simple things. Because I get to be in this beautiful and historic place,
sharing my testimony and love for my savior and getting to grow everyday.
Maybe we don't see these astounding miracles, but to me.. it's
the little ones that matter most

So this week bc we served, we got this queen size mattress pad
from a family who was just going to throw it away. In order to both benefit
from this luxury, we pushed our beds together and draped it across :)
