Oct. 31, 2016 "Happy Hallerweeeen!"

Oct. 31, 2016 “Happy Hallerweeeen!”

HAPPY HALLOWEEN YALL!

This week we did lots and lots of knocking doors and visiting unknown people! But we had some miracles come from it!

Monday we called lots and lots of people (part member families especially) at the VC to set up appointments for the week (we didn't have a car)

Tuesday we stopped by a former investigators house Brad. Sister Harvey and I had met him halfway through my first transfer. He was awesome! So interested and really wanted to learn more. Asked if we could come back and teach his wife and him!! So but how the story goes is we go back for our appt. and Brad wasn't there but his wife was and she said they weren't interested (and wasn't very nice about it) BUT this week I said you know what lets try them again. So we prayed real hard before we went over but GUESS WHAT!! Brad was home! He was the one who answered and he recognized us, and even though he didn't have time right then, he said I really want you to come back and teach my wife too when he's here but he's like you have our number right I want to stay in touch!! MIRACLE!!!
So now we are in the process of setting up an appointment that works with his wife's schedule as a nurse.

Wednesday we had an amazing morning on teaching center!(online teaching) I am teaching a man I dont know if I told you last week but he is from Canada and he doesn't have missionaries in his area - or we are trying to find some because he wants to learn! I mailed him a Book of Mormon and Bible and he is already in 2nephi!!! He said he has been coming closer to Christ as he has read and he said that he would go to church Sunday! Even if it was an hour away from him!! So that was awesome!!! Sister Matagi and I have also been able to send off like 18 referrals to other missionaries from the contacts we have talked to on the phone or through chat!! This is awesome because we don't have any investigators right now and it's getting closer in the VC.

We also discussed the talk "Settle this in your hearts" at district meeting. Our mission president asked us all to read it and honk about what more we can give to the Lord and  how the Lord can use us better. I invite and want all of you to do the same! It'll change your life.

Consecration is so much more than like a nice way of saying communism as a lot of people may misinformedly think it is haha.

Consecration is just about understanding the gospel and understanding that it is what REALLY and ONLY matters in life. Consecration is really about using your time and talents to help build up the Lord's kingdom. We have each been given gifts, but as members of the church and especially as those who have entered into His holy temple and made covenants there... being a member of the Lords Kingdom on the earth is not a passive endeavor. You cannot just sit and do nothing. That is what I am learning so much from serving in Blue Springs. There are amazing people here, but quite honestly three are not very willing to get out of their comfort zone or reach out to others.
THAT IS INSANE! And I am so sad that I was like that before my mission but I know God is trying to tell me that THAT IS NOT HIS WAY!!! So to all of you I ask you what my mission president and what ultimately the Savior has asked all of us ... are you willing to "sell all thou hath and take up thy cross and follow me" ?
The way we answer that question will inevitably decide our destiny in the eternities.

Sometimes it's hard to reach down within ourselves and, not holding anything back, give our all to the Lord. Especially when the entire world says that we should forcus more on the individual and be introspective rather than turn outward as the savior would!

So read that talk!! October 1992 Neil l maxwell.

Wednesday night we went over the ward roster with one of the members who knows all the inside story of everyone in the ward. And I LOVE sister cannon! She sees us as real people not just robot missionaries which is really refreshing and we were just joking with her.

Friday was our full proselyting day! We had lunch with our member (who I am apparently cousins somehow with? We are both related to James G. Bleak) and the. We visited a few members, knocked a few doors but the miracle of it all was when we stopped by this less-Active's house we haven't had contact with for a long time and she was home and let us right in and turns out her daughter is 8 and hasn't been baptized and she said she wanted to and then Stephanie (the mom) just opened up to us about her struggles and so now we are teaching them! Huge miracle!

Then we had a lesson at the Wilkes home (one of the best families in the ward) and they were so cute! (We are practicing the lessons with them) and they are so missionary minded. We just opened up to Bro Wilkes and sister Wilkes about how we are teaching no one and it is seriously a struggle. And it really helped because they said they needed the reminder and then they gave us a bunch of names for people to visit.

Saturday and Sunday were good and not so good! Haha we met a couple of people who were interested (please pray for Shauna and Michelle) OH and we met a Vietnamese family and we are gonna start teaching them! Or we hope so. We met the daughter and she definitely wants it. She read the whole pamphlet! We are going to go back by this week. (So pray for Cindy and Daniel)

Sunday we had Stake Conference!!! Oh man our stake president is so good. And president and sister Vest spoke and there was an area 70. It was amazing!! We talked all about missionary work and how it is the work of salvation and saving families!! It was so powerful. And our returning member talked and she did so good! She is stellar. #blessings

On and Saturday morning there was a parade going in front of the VC so there was people allllll around sooo GUESS WHAT WE DID?! We took all the little Debbie's and goodies that had been brought and we taped pass along cards to all them and went out and passed them to all the kids!!! The little kids were like "Look mommy, Jesus!!" S'cute

Sunday night no one really wanted to see us so we were tryin real hard to not get bummed out. (Especially when u go to visit an active member and she doesn't even want to see you or let you in her house at all ..). We knocked the entire street and literally NO ONE wanted to listen to us at all. And at least 5 people said we were wasting our time and just looked at us and said UM NO.

BUT what made up for it was then going over to see Stephanie and her daughter Scarlett (the 8 yr old) and she was so excited for us to come back. Her whole family was gathered around and the grandparents who are active members and all their cousins and the spirit was so strong as we shared the restoration... BUT also her roommate was there! Another mom who lives with her. And she came and joined us for the closing prayer (I mentioned this before, but it was so awesome!)
And I just thought you know, people may think we are wasting time but if we can bring but that one soul to Christ, it's worth it. That one good thing is what you'll remember out of all the maybe not so good. But I know that even Christ would have suffered the entire atonement even if it was just for one soul. If it was just for me he would do it. Just for those few who would choose to repent and chose to become as God wants us to be. So then what are you going to do with the atonement?

Ponder that this week 😉
LOVE U ALL LOTS!!!
💕Sister Bleak

Oh yeah our member likes to play a joke and have all the missionaries new to the ward come over and eat spaghetti with our hands. Mom wouldn't u be so proud 😉
